Neoprene rubber was developed by DuPont in the 1930s to meet the demand for an elastomer sheeting with chemical resistance and outdoor capabilities. While other synthetic rubbers degrade quickly under intense physical conditions, rubber neoprene is designed to endure. Neoprene sheet rubber performs well in high-stress applications—particularly in outdoor and industrial conditions—that could damage other synthetic elastomers. The 40A soft neoprene is extremely pliable, making it a good choice for sealing applications like insulation or industrial gasketing.
